Comments on: “Logged in elsewhere” error message - a possible fix

I also received the ‘logged in elsewhere’ message so then tried the ’search the census’ option but then received the ‘cookies’ message. I investigated my cookies position and found that it was already on the medium setting so should be operational. What should I do now?

I have records and units outstanding but cannot use them!

I got the ‘logged in elsewhere’ mess a couple of times but managed on both occasions to get round it by selecting the ’search the census’ button. Never-the-less the message is really irritating!

Morning all. I havent been on the site for probably 10days and I just got the same message. I tried several times including ’signing out’ but still same problem, so I signed into ‘findmypast’ website and clicked over from there withut any problems got in ok and started searching, made my selection and it’s still fine. thanks for the opportunity to view the 1911 census early. Has been a great help.

Still having the logged in elsewhere message, the workaround doesn’t work. Only logging out of findmypast and closing the browser (firefox) and starting all over again fixes the problem. Are you looking into it?? Yes I could open 1911 first and then log into findmypast second but my research doesn’t always start with 1911 it is often only after looking at the earlier census records that I want to follow on to 1911. Otherwise I am enjoying using the site, but having to shut down in the middle of something is getting very annoying.

Iaccessed the 1911 website a short time ago. I registereed and paid a subscription for credits.
After downlosding one transaction, I find it difficult to return to the site. Instead I am divereted to another wesite. This is anoying!

The page “Logged in elsewhere” error message - a possible fix” which I keep getting every time I try to access the 1911 Census site, says……..
“Basically when the user gets this message within the 1911 census site all they have to do is click the link at the top of the page called ‘Search the 1911 census’.

But I can’t see a link at the top of that page called “Search the 1911 Census”.

I’ll try some of the above suggestions posted by other Users.

I’ve encountered this message several times. Usually I’ve solved the problem by closing down my browser (Firefox) and starting it up again. On one occasion, however, I had to re-boot my PC.

I only logged in to 1911census from one browser window on one PC. I had not been on the FMP site at all. I got the “Logged in elsewhere” after my session timed out.

The fix in this blog (clicking on the ‘Search the 1911 census’ link at the top of the page) fixed the problem for me.

I have found that the reason for this ‘bug’ is because the user is also logged in to findmypast.com in another browser window.

Looging out of the FMP site and waitig for 30 seconds invariably cures the problem.

I have had this problem for some time, but the suggested workaround doesn’t always work. Exiting the browser and going in again may work. Also explicitly logging out at the end of a session.
Apart from the workaround posted in the blog on 30th January, where is there a fix posted that was mentioned in the same entry?
