Map - counties currently available

We thought this would help you visualise where we are in terms of county rollout.

The counties live represent 83% of the total population in the 1911 Census.

ERRATUM: there is a blue, unnamed chunk of land lying between Denbighshire, Cheshire and Shropshire which is in fact part of Flintshire and therefore not live yet. Islands around the British Isles are also not shown. Thanks to eagle eyed-readers who spotted this - we will get the map updated.

If you have not already seen it, we have already posted an article on the order of scanning and rollout of the counties, click below to read it:

And the colours other than blue mean?

  2. Owain Vaughan Says:

The map was lifted of the Association of British Counties web site without attribution. The colours are just those of the standard n-colour map problem. See http://www.abcounties.co.uk

  3. Owain Vaughan Says:

Oh and another thing, the map-colourer-in person seems to have coloured in the large detached part of Flintshire as if it was part of Shropshire. Oops.

  4. Alison Says:

So where do the Channel Islands figure on the map. We seem to be missing :-(

  5. MikeS Says:

Great job!! Do you have likely dates for the release of the remaining counties? In particular Northumberland??

  6. carol Says:

Was it really unintentional/the north side divide?

  7. Delyth Says:

So when will we be able to access the Welsh counties on the website?
