It would be nice to know how the 12% of England population not covered was distributed, or if it is general across the whole country, and also when this remaining population will be included.

Out of a relatively small number of searches I have done, I have failed to find any entries for at least six young people who are listed in the 1901 census, and I have no evidence that they have died in the subsequent decade. 2 born in Bristol, 1 in Kent, 3 in Hampshire.

Or is the failure to find them due to the truly appalling transcription quality? I have found errors on 2 out of the 6 transcripts I have paid for! The inability to use wild cards makes variant name searching extremely difficult, but with this level of transcription inaccuracy it is essential.

Wildcard searching coming soon - please see the blog entries on this. I have posted an answer to the transcription question in “pricing and payment options”.

But transcription accuracy is high - over 98.5% is probably the best of any census at launch. It will obviously improve with your help in noting errors.
