Emma was actually Asquith's second wife and the mother of the youngest two children on the 1911 census return. Helen Violet and Cyril Asquith's mother had sadly died in 1891.

		<description>I wonder why Maurice Bonham Carter has written that Emma Asquith had 4 children - 2 living and 2 that had died, when there are 4 living children entered on the census form! Did he think that the form was asking how many were male and how many female?</description>
